Promoting handcrafts from Nakai-Nam Theun National Park at the Folk Art Market Fair 2022 in Vientiane!

In March 2022, our team participated in the Folk Art Market Fair 2022 that was held in Vientiane 25 – 28 March. The market fair aimed for local artisans from all over Laos to bring their beautiful products to the people of Vientiane, and encouraging the start of a trend of local product consumption. The artisanal products featured included basketry, textile, fashion, art, jewellery, food and beverage.

Our team displayed and sold the handicrafts made by the villagers of Thaphaibanh region in Nakai – Nam Theun National Park, as part of our project supporting villagers in alternative livelihoods. Our booth was extremely popular and provided a great way to showcase the traditional crafting skills from a remote rural area of Laos and find more market opportunities through new partnerships in Vientiane.

Over the 4-day fair, a few hundred items were sold to Lao and foreign customers!
