As an association dedicated to biodiversity conservation and to local communities resilience in Laos, we are ambassadors most able to raise public awareness of the dramatic consequences of the biodiversity crisis in Southeast Asia.
This year 2020 has unquestionably demonstrated once again the importance of nature conservation, notably to avoid the emergence of zoonosis (and pandemics) and to protect the communities relying on natural resources for their livelihoods.
This is why one of our programs include conservation awareness in which we produce and publish some exclusive educative materials to raise awareness of the rich biodiversity occurring in Laos and the threats it faces.
This year 2020, we have donated to partners institutions over 2100 books which are disseminated across the country as part of our partner’s on-going public awareness programs.
We distributed the books to institutions such as World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), GIZ-German development organization, Helvetas-Swiss Development organization, The World Bank, Agrisud International, Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife, Nam Ha National Protected Area, Adventist Development and Relief Agency International (ADRA), etc.
In addition, we donated books to schools, universities and education and cultural centers in Vientiane, such as Pole Francophone de l’Université Nationale du Laos, Institut Français du Laos, Lycée Français Josué Hoffet, Vientiane International School, Panyathip International School, Tukata Vientiane Nursery, Sala Sujipuli cultural center for children.
Overall in 2020, we donated:
Since 2016, we have published in collaboration with exceptional and talented artists, writers and graphic designers some educative materials including three children’s books: Wonders of the Annamites in 2016-2017 with Eric Losh; Spirit of the Saola in 2018 with Melody Kemp and Dao Van Hoang; Pangolin: Life of a Scaly Anteater in 2019 with Josephine Billeter; And in 2020 a poster on zoonosis Protect your Health. Protect Wildlife with Josephine Billeter (of which we donated 2500 copies to partner institutions in 2020).
