We are very pleased and honored to have signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the 16th January 2023 with the CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN BIODIVERSITY of the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LAOS!
This Agreement allows Association Anoulak to implement all our on-going and future biological and social research in any field location in Laos, including in Nakai-Nam Theun National Park, where most of our work has focused these past few years. This new 5-year agreement (2023 to 2027) opens new opportunities to work in new locations in Laos to expand our contribution to biodiversity conservation in Laos.
This agreement comes from the shared interest and commitment of both Association Anoulak and the CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN BIODIVERSITY of the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LAOS to promote biodiversity research, education, training, development of human resources and institutional strengthening in Laos. As part of this Agreement, Association Anoulak will continue its ongoing programs, as well as develop new projects in which students, professors and experts from Laos will be involved.
We were pleased to share to representatives of the National University of Laos our vision for the coming years. The signature ceremony of the Agreement was chaired by the Vice President of the National University of Laos, and attended by the directors of the Centre of Excellence in Biodiversity, the Research and Academic Services Office, the Faculty of Forestry, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
As integral part of all the programs that Association Anoulak is and will implement as part of this Agreement, capacity building and conservation awareness is key to the missions of Association Anoulak in Laos. This contributes to raise awareness of the local and international community about the biodiversity in Laos and the importance of protecting it, inspire and train the new generation of Lao conservationists and biologists and ensure the long-term sustainability, transfer and ownership of our programs at the national level.
