The 21st January 2021 marked a milestone for our Association. Following the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between Association Anoulak and the Nakai – Nam Theun National Park Authority (governed under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao P.D.R.) in July 2019, we convened our key government partner stakeholders to report on Association Anoulak’s activities implemented during the year 2019 and the year 2020. Attendees to the meeting included representatives from the Nakai – Nam Theun National Park Authority; Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Provincial Office of International Non-Government Organizations.
This meeting had the objective to present Association Anoulak’s Annual Report 2019 and Annual Report 2020, discuss our next work plan and issues to address with Government stakeholders. We notably presented the activities that we were able to accomplish in the sectors of Biodiversity Research; Anti-poaching Patrols; Conservation Awareness; Community Sustainable Livelihoods.
The participants commanded the work we have implemented and reaffirmed the importance of Nakai – Nam Theun National Park for biodiversity conservation. In addition, they welcomed our potential new projects we wish to develop in the near future notably on elephants, botany and Luciocyprinus striolatus. It was notably noted that dissemination of our work be shared more widely to Government partners for awareness. Regular monitoring and reporting to our key Government partners will ensure long-term sustainability and coordination of our activities.
